Woah
Looked nice, not available yet. Lots of new features!!
Did they mention a price range?
William Dodd I can see it costing 700-1000
This is Nick, I’m really not a fan of this new remote being cellular. Having to maintain a cellular contact just feels like a scam and many shoot sites have shit or no cellular coverage. I got the impression cobra is going to start charging for support as well. Right now their support is amazing and free. But, the subscription model is so addictive to the group. Continuous income for the same stuff they were doing for just buying their product in the past. Plus, the option to make the shit you own not work if you don’t pay the subscription is super common these days. In the keynote at Cobra Con it was a big point that quality is increasing, but also PRICE. Just don’t like the loud point being the price, especially when pushing subscription.
Zach did mention in an interview they were starting to gear the Cobra side more to professional use (hence, greater durability and higher price)and keep the ignite going as the consumer/hobbyist version.

For the 4X4 Competition.
You will be given a 4ftx4ft square in which you can place your 1.4g. nothing can be outside of this square. Only consumer 1.4g with an ex# can be used (nothing home made). must be scripted to music and last between 4min 15sec and 5min 15 sec. the pyro must be secure in that it can't fall over. the method for securing it is upto you, but it will be checked. you make break cakes apart and refuse items as desired. Good day Fireants. Setting up for the event. If anyone wants to script and setup a 1.3g 5 min display during the event. Submit a script to Jeremy Jandreau. IF you are using your own shells, budget for around $1250 worth for reimbursement. If you need shells, the club will provide (rough estimate) 6-6in shells, 12-5in shells, 60-4in shells, 72-3 in shells, and will see about 2.5in salutes. 1.4g will not be provided in this, but you may add it as you see fit. Shells provided will be assorted effect, if looking to sort out specific effects, please let me know.
Mortars and cobra mods will be supplied. please script it in cobra show creator or finale 3d for simplicity as it will be combined with 2 others.
Only requirement to try is to be a member. Please keep the number of positions simple as the equipment is borrowed and we'll be setting up more than one at a time. please submit your script by april 15th, and let us know if you'll be providing shells or need them provided.

If you want to be the 2nd 5 minute display at spring pyrofest, submit your script and any audio to PAT. I'll figure out what the donated shell count will be and list that. The donated shells will not be a limit, you can add to it, but that isn't required and doesn't necessarily add to your chances. Sometimes less is more and creative use of black sky can be of value. Also, upto 3 large fuel mines will be donated.
This is open to any club member/members.
An approximate donated shell count to follow, but feel free to start scripting now as shell counts and types can be adjusted/tuned.
Finale 3d format is preferred, but cobra show creator works as well.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and is gearing up for a happy new year.
Once the holidays wind down, there will be some information drops on the spring pyrofest event.
Also, if you're interested in judging competition, DM Jeremy Jandreau.
I'd like to look at giving members the ability to sell/trade materials, chems, crafted items, etc. The difficulty will lay in finding a way to allow vending that doesn't prohibit those members involvement from the activities that they wish to perform. Open to suggestions on that.
Also, by the way of Vote, the club has ruled for 3 5min 1.3 displays instead of 1 15min display. I've selected those who will do the 1st and 3rd displays. There will be a contest to determine who will do the second display. Details for that will be posted tomorrow.

Remember April showers for May's flowers .
According to data rain peaks in May plus its 8-10 degrees warmer on average.
April, you'll have spring break to compete with in local areas. May will be graduations and prop, etc. Good on either date from Rockwall perspective..... Just booked week before the May date, so choose quickly, haha. Texas Frightmare Weekend went on sale this week if anyone is wondering what May thing is happening. Warehouses are announcing pop offs/demos and they often run during these times..... LOL, I'm being ADD and super helpful I know.
Memorial Day weekend sounds like a terrible idea, IMO. Too many conflicts for too many people. Also, by that point, some of us are already in high gear, getting ready for the 4th season. Only argument I see for late May is more product should be stateside and available by then. Spring time in east Texas. It’s gonna rain, just wear your slickers and enjoy it!
Leading up to pyrofest if anyone wants me to order some new quickplug igniters that cost almost half the price of MJG. I’ll be bringing some samples for members to try out as well. Price before shipping. 2 meter (box)x50 - $35.00(5-10% discount on 6+boxes) (case)x1000-$575 3 meter (box)x40 - $35.00(5-10% discount on 6+boxes)(case)x1000-$675 If you’re interested just message me. I’ll contact my friend and see when he has shipments arriving. So far I’m happy with the quality and watched one show & demo night fired with them. I believe two wires failed continuity checks overall. Prices may be subject to change and large orders may be able to get more of a discount.
Due to popular demand, there will be a mini 1.4g competition at the spring event. Has to be a Pyro musical, no longer than 5min, fit on a board that is 4ftx4ft length and width. No pro line or OL's.

Breaking down cakes fair game?
Do the mods have to fit on the board?
No pro line? Meaning no “Professional Use Only UN0431 ” and/or nothing from UN0336 that says pro line. I ask because vendors like SO76 sell both.
Is the show limited to one board?
Keep in mind these are going to be very heavy. Plus 48" width is to wide for my vehicle. I will probably need to cut it in 2 pieces and butt them up in the field.
Asking for a friend…..😳what’s OL’S?
How many entries will there bein total
Good idea. I like it. 👏
Just my two cents: these are affordable enough and only 5 minutes long. I’d say let however many people want to compete, compete…. Well, within reason, not really time for 30 entries…
A board of tannerite. Ok, ok. It would have been grand. A bunch of blue dots for everyone. Rofl
Just finished a first draft for my 4x4. I'm sure it'll get adjusted a few times before spring. It was on my mind so I sat down and scripted it.

Sounds fun. I’d supply the product, at import cost, if I can get it. However, just spoke on the phone today with Raccoon about the order I placed 6 weeks ago and it doesn’t look good for next season. They said they could have it here in September. Yep, that does a lot of good… lol. We’ll see how it plays out.
I still have multiple dots in my vision from the last donut mascletà.
Jeremy Jandreau, I talked to James Howard about the combined single song display idea on Tuesday. He is excited and willing to help. He said that we need to get together and pick product and a general field layout for the show builders to design from. They could then send him a non-addressed script with just time code and product. From there, he could combine the scripts and music so we can shoot the displays on one remote as a combined display. So we can get this idea rolling.

It was nice to put together the national anthem and show it off in front of my fellow peers. I only changed the script 20 times. Hell I even changed a few things 30 minutes before I took it out to go set up in the field. Hope to do another one or pyromusical for the club in the near future
Thanks JJ, Thanks to everyone that helped at the event. Having the weight shared is growing and bettering our club!
Great time and a great learning experience, safety was the rule. Thanks to all! See you in Spring….
Don't forget, there will be a lone star shell competition this spring. Rules as follows: only one star may be used, no tails. Can be lifted via rocket or shell. They must be a star, not a type of insert or salute. (IE tourbillon, hummers, etc) don't count. Can change colors, Crossett, etc. Feels free to ask about a specific device if unsure.
Also, competition entries are be limited to 3 per category. The rest will go to builder's showcase.

Why aren't there dates listed?
Hey Guys! Sorry, I’ve had a few too many irons in the fire lately and am a little late getting this posted. But, let’s get the group buy for the fall Pyrofest going! In addition to Spirit of '76, you may also purchase from my (NTP) inventory of Raccoon and Winda/Wizard product. There is a lot of great 1.4pro items available in the NTP list along with a selection of consumer and 1.3G (obviously, I’ll need your FEL on file for 1.3G orders). I’m also doing a buy for CraigCo comet racks. Let’s get a 30 rack order together from CraigCo and get the 20% off pricing (we can mix and match racks to get the 30 rack discount level).
Priceless and info at talk.fireants.org/t/fall-pyrofest-group-buy-2023/591

If you want to get in a CraigCo comet or slice rack order, please get that to me ASAP. See details at talk.fireants.org/t/fall-pyrofest-group-buy-2023/591 As in, preferably get them in this week. I'll pick them up at Sky Wars. CraigCo has set a deadline of Sept 15, but if we have a large order, we should get it in sooner. Thanks!

Video of the PGI Oshkosh 2023 - MUM Member Built Display:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLw-SZsaQtI
(we'll get better video later)
Congratulations to the MUM Pyro Family , led by Derrick & Hailee Miller, for their very successful display! The MUM Pyro Family prepped all the product, supplies, gear, and supplies for the week months in advance. A 70 person class of PGI members, mostly new builders, spent all week at PGI building & loading all of the effects: including 3"-8" shells, mines, comets, & salutes. They were taught by MUM Pyro Family members.
JJ thanks MUM for trusting him to be the Display Lead. It was also a PAT Member group effort to help MUM get this show done: I thank James Howard of Pyroific Fireworks for lending me tons of pyro llama parts, giving me used Spirit tubes, and for adding Cobra addressing into Hailee Miller's script. I thank Duke Burge of Diamond D Pyro for giving me used Spirit tubes. I thank Carl Standridge and Steve Vaughan of Big Boom for lending me 19-36M's & 72M's. I thank Brian Wood and honorary PAT friends Brad Heitman & Joseph Oye for helping me flash, sync, channel, and label all the Cobra's. I especially thank Ted Lundy, Steve Meade, and PAT Prez Jeremy Jandrau of USG Pyro for towing my trailer to and from Texas to Wisconsin.
The Display had 1847 cues, 47 Pod Positions, 128 Cobra Modules and 122 Cobra Channels. Used Spirit of 76 tubes were reloaded with hand built comets and mines. Spirit and Dominator 45-50mm tubes were reloaded and then dropped into 2" tubes for deployment. The lightning effects were cued to Dragon's Breath gas mines & large ground salutes.
My deep thanks to all who helped out, especially to all the Class Members for their hard work, patience, and good cheer!
JJ

It's a lot of work that's actually fun! Glad to meet you there JJ! See you next time!
JJ, Hailee and I and the rest of the Mum Pyro team cannot begin to thank you enough for your hard work and dedication to this project. Having you on the build team is not only a pleasure but also an honor. Knowing we have a very experienced field operator standing beside us takes the stress level for us down more than you probably realize. At the end of the week when the build part of the show is done and we're able to hand the field off to you for loading is a tremendous relief. Thanks again to Jeff and the rest of the Fire Ants who put in so many hours of behind the scenes work to let a bunch of armatures play with pyro for a week.
