Hey FireAnts!

The Caddo shoot is scheduled for May 17th and 18th! At this time, the event will be limited to 1.4G due to the shortage of B product from China. But what 1.4G we will have! Spider from Spiderworks is coming, so be sure to give him a call if you want anything special! He can be reached at 574-315-8127. Spider sez is getting mobile again after a careless driver managed to take out all of his transportation in one huge crash late last year. So let's be sure to support him in true PAT fashion! With product prices about to go through the roof, now is the time to get it while the gettin's good!

The result of the club insurance application with CSI is now available. Due to the state issues that we are all very familiar with by now, the policy has to be combined GL/Workers Comp coverage and will cost a hair under $10,100.00 for one year. Yes this is a lot of money, but it is something I feel we can do for at least a year with what is in the insurance fund and with a little more help from pledged donors. Insurance and the future will be a BIG topic at the members' business meeting at the event, along with elections for the coming year. Please plan to be at that meeting.

We need folks to step in and help drive the preparation and logistics for this event. Also, an event coordinator is needed. Please drop a note in the TFEML mailing list if you can help. We are already getting people offering their help, so please consider how YOU can help and jump right in here!

Regards and smoke...

Who are the Pyrotechnic Artists of Texas Inc. Print E-mail
Thursday, 19 August 2004

The Pyrotechnic Artists of Texas is a not-for profit membership of fireworks lovers, formed in 1997, consisting of all types of interests in fireworks. Some of the FireAnts are Licensed Pyrotechnic Operators who shoot commercial displays, some are non-licensed hobbyists and enthusiasts who like to shoot and observe fireworks, as well as many who are involved in the distribution and /or sales of professional, and consumer fireworks products. We simply cannot get enough of good fireworks, and we'd be quite happy if we could celebrate the "Fourth" EVERY month of the year, and we relish any opportunity to "Smell the Smoke"!

Our Club by-laws, safety information, and membership application are included in this web site for those who might want to download them to help start a club of their own in their home state.

We gather as a club group at least three times a year in Texas in the following regions:

North Central (Dallas Ft. Worth) - April or May

Mid Eastern Central (Austin) - October or November

South Eastern Central (Houston) - February

Our Fireworks club gatherings consist of seminars in assembly of fireworks, fireworks displays, Safety techniques for operation, Safety demos, and various other club activities. Our club gatherings also provide family opportunities to enjoy fireworks with our children. Our older children are also encouraged to participate in some club events with consumer fireworks under close Adult supervision, in safe surroundings. Safety is always top priority in our crowd. Some of our members are Emergency Medical Technicians or Paramedics who also serve as PAT Safety Officers and coordinators.

Many of our FireAnt members are also members of other fireworks clubs in the United States that meet on a regular basis to shoot view, test and refine the qualities of fireworks. There are 13 such clubs in addition to ours in Texas, in the states of Florida, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, New York, California, Colorado, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Michigan.. to mention a few. Many of our members are also members of the largest such club, The Pyrotechnics Guild International, which now has 3000 members throughout the world.

If you would like to know more about P.A.T., you may e-mail the club's (listed in the Contact Us section).

Happy and safe fireworks shooting to you!
