Though the Caddo Mills shoot May 15-17, 2009 got rained out for the most part, we still found ways to have lots of fun. Friday night was great weather and we got to do quite a bit of hand firing of shells and built a cremora and tried a few other things. Saturday we woke up to a steady light rain … instead of the big show, we were able to spend quite a bit of time doing other things, and some of the more experienced hands got pretty creative: · We had an anvil shoot. · Some people fired black powder cannons. · Some people were working on mines and built about a dozen they shot off that night. · Someone even set up a 70 shell parabola report that was pretty impressive. · We also got to see a spectacular shell that was hand built by our members.
While it wasn't a huge shoot, it wasn't bad, we had time to see what other people were working with, ask questions and get answers, which was pretty cool.
I do want to take the opportunity though to welcome the new members, and most importantly give a big thank you to the Nelsons. They went above and beyond, and, having the warehouse to shelter in, kept the whole thing from being a washout!
